The History of SEAS The history of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton has two starting points. The school of today is the result of a merger of Holy Spirit School and St. Anthony School. The story began with St. Anthony School opening its door in the fall of 1921. For nearly 80 years the building located at 2410 First Street North was the site of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and School. The church was located in the baement of the building and the school used the rooms of the two upper floors. In 2001, the parish built a new church directly across the street from this building. Since then, building has been used as school, as well as the site for evening religious education classes. The basement of the building, which was formerly the church, has been remodeled and is the Parish Center. In 1950, Holy Spirit Church and School opened its doors to serve the families on the south side of St. Cloud. In the year 1999, the parish built a new church, which is located at 2405 Walden Way. In 1995, the schools of Holy Spirit and St. Anthony became one. The school was given a new name, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School, after the religious sister that began the first Catholic school in America. Presently, the former Holy Spirit Church and School serves as the primary campus offering education to children from preschool through grade three. The St. Anthony building is the intermediate campus, educating students in grades four through six.
