Parent Newsletter Dear Parents, I am writing this letter to offer a report on the 2007-08 school year, to share plans for the future and to thank you for your support. Before coming to work at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School I had heard about the excellent Catholic education that it offered the families of the St. Cloud area. After having completed my first year as principal of the school, I found this to be very true! What makes us a great school? The answer would include a strong faith and academic program, a celebration of the arts, a family atmosphere, and much more! Our rich, Catholic faith plays a big part in our day. We work with you to develop and deepen that Catholic faith that you gave them at their baptism. This is done through learning more about our faith during Religion class, a strong prayer life, which includes numerous opportunities for daily prayer and Holy Mass each Thursday and opportunities for the children and staff to put their faith in action through service projects to help those in need. We take pride in the academic success of our children. Their annual achievement test scores are consistently well above the state and national averages. Because of our small class sizes, which average 16 students per teacher, we are able to give our students the one on one attention that will help them to achieve their full potential. A well-rounded education at SEAS includes the arts. The students in grades 4-6 have the opportunity to take band lessons and the children in grades 2-6 are offered on site orchestra lessons. This spring, we were host to an Artist-in-Residency. During the week, the children from both buildings were immersed in the culture, music and art of the Caribbean. We strive to be one large family. The children work, eat, and play together. Several times during the year, the children from the two buildings come together. Younger and older students are paired and participate in activities together, as brothers and sisters in a family would. Thanks to our Home and School Association, families come together at various times during the year for good, family fun. The future of the school is bright! We have a caring, dedicated staff and families that are very supportive. Our current enrollment is up from what it was last spring and the new year in the fall looks to be even better. Our growth is especially strong in the primary building. Next year, we will have two classes in kindergarten, grade one, and grade three! Some of this is due to the efforts of the school’s Marketing Committee, but you deserve much of the credit! You have told the good news of our school to your family, neighbors and friends. In closing, I would like to thank you for choosing SEAS for your child’s education. We pray that you and your family have a great summer and we look forward to the new school year in the fall! God Bless!
